About Eatons’ Ranch and Helpful Info

Eatons’ Ranch is celebrating over 135 years of the ranching lifestyle! The oldest dude ranch in the United States begun with 3 brothers, Howard, Willis and Alden in 1879 in Medora, ND. They moved in 1904 to the current Sheridan location for a more suitable riding terrain for their ever-growing number of guests. Here’s where we’ve been ever since and we’re excited to welcome another season of dude ranch visitors each year, June through September. In the off season we offer Winter B&B Stays and also have the ranch available for as an event venue.

What Type of Clothing Should I Pack? As this is a dude ranch vacation destination, there is no formality in clothing at the Ranch. Western riding clothes are usually worn throughout the day; casual and comfortable clothes are the norm when not riding. Lightweight jackets or sweatshirts may be needed for cool evenings and mountain riding, and rain gear is always a good idea. Do not forget to bring your swimsuit for relaxing at the pool, hot tub or creek walking in Wolf Creek.

Town Trips? The ranch has a vehicle traveling to town every afternoon, Monday through Saturday.
